How about a little "Then and Now" pictures!!!!!
My friend email me these pictures of Ash and Graham.
It's absolutely crazy how fast time flies. I just can't believe how big they are now.
This morning Asher came with me on my run because I wanted to explore some trails. We found like 4 waterfalls!!! All within one miles from our campsite. It's heaven here!!! Enjoy the pictures.
In Fort Payne, the city we are in, it literally rained all day today. I believe the rain was part of a huge snow storm that hit the East Coast.
Two attractions brought us here to Desoto State Park. The first one was Desoto itself, and the second one was Cathedral Cavern State Park. Cathedral Caverns is about and hour and twenty minutes away from us. It is a series of caves that I wanted to go explore because the pictures on Pinterest were amazing. The rain today made it so that we couldn't hit the trails of Desoto. I figured it would be a good day to get out of the rain and go hang out in a cave!!!! Around 2PM we left as a family and drove to Cathedral Caverns!!! PS. beautiful drive. Alabama is gorgeous.
I have to apologize, I took 127 pictures while we were in the cave. 😅 I couldn't help myself. This cave received the "Best Cave of our Trip" award from the family. We had the most amazing time. First of all, we booked our tour at 4PM. We arrived and guess what???? No one was there besides us!!! We had the whole cave all to ourselves!!! Our tour guide, Milton, took our family through the cave and told us the stories about the history of the cave and showed us many cool things about it. This cave is beautiful. It's magnificent!! It used to be called "Bat Cave". But the wife of the first owner thought that parts of the cave looked like a cathedral, so he changed the name to Cathedral Caverns.
It was freezing cold outside. Inside the cave it was a comfortable 60 degrees. We were able to walk all the way to the end of the pathway, 3/4 of a mile. So , so worth the effort to get here. Loved every minute of this cave tour.
PSS. Another cool fact about the cave is that they found artifacts from Indians that dated back around five thousand years. Of course we were thinking Jaradites. Who knows?? Ohhh and there were shark teeth stuck in the walls!! So cool!!!
Milton!!
Goliath is the name of this huge formation
Asher wanted to have a pool party here :)))
The back of Goliath looks like a Christmas tree!!
Old bridge that the first owner used to get his jeep across the water.
Cave man with his dog
Cavern Room
Milton gave the kids a ride out of the cave. He was so cool!!

Wow! What awesome and beautiful formations. Remember, I suggested Tom Sawyer's cave in Missouri? You can skip it now. 🤣
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing to see things from a gospel perspective - the Creation, the Flood, the Jaredites, etc.?
Yes, kids do grow up. It's nice to have pictures to remember. We miss the wonderful little sermons that Graham would give on Fast Sundays. I hope that's still happening in your family.
