Friday December 18, 2020 Desoto State Falls

Today was our last day in this gorgeous land. Scotty had time in his schedule today to  hike over to see Desoto Falls, so we saved it for today.  The falls are 107 feet tall.  They were named after a Spanish explorer.  The falls weren't Niagara Falls but they were still SO amazing.

You can see the falls from two spots.  The first one is from a picnic area above the falls.  We hung there to enjoy the view of the falls from above.

The park put this quote from John Muir on these stairs.  After visiting all the National Parks this year, I sure appreciate John Muir.  The quote says, "Everybody needs real beauty as well as real places to play in and pray in.  Where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul".  Thank you John for your dedication to the preservation of National Lands!!!

The second spot that you can see the falls is from the bottom of the falls.  You get to hike down a trail to get there.  The view of the falls from the bottom is just what John Muir was talking about.  It's a place to ponder and pray.  You can see God's hand in the creation of the beauty.

Asher fell at one point and slipped down the huge rock he was climbing on.  He was sliding down the rock towards the river when all of a sudden he found a tree to grab onto.  The tree stopped his fall and saved him from gridding into the rushing river. Yet another guarding angel saving his life.  He walked away with only a few scratches.  BTW, I've been cupping his back hence the perfect circles on his back.  Thank you  for all of your prayers of safety for our family.  Here is proof that they work!!

That was a fantastic day.  Water falls are so heavenly!!
Tomorrow is a travel day for us so we had a lot of work to do tonight.  We packed up the bikes and cleaned out the tanks.  We cleaned the bathrooms and prepared for a chilly, early departure.  Asher and Graham did the bikes, Pepper and Taj helped me clean the inside of the trailer while I cleaned the tanks. Scotty still had work for the day.  It only took an hour or so, then we were ready to relax and watch a movie.

A few of Peppers drawings that we wanted to remember!!
