Tuesday December 29, 2020 - Parkin Archeological State Park - Memphis Skate Park

Here we are in Tennessee!!!  The South is wonderful!! We are working our way back to the west coast!!

Today we were able to check out a few really cool local places here in Memphis.

Our first stop of the day was the Parkin Archeological State Park.  This  state park preserves an ancient Indian city named Casqui.  Casqui existed around 1350-1650.  The city is located by the St. Francis and Tyronza rivers.  Artifacts from this site are on display at the museum which was closed.  Hernando DeSoto visited this site as part of his conquest.

We walked/scootered/rollerbladed around a 3/4 mile loop as we learned about the Indians that lived here.  The best part was the mound right in the middle of the city. The mound was built up for the chiefs house.  Of course we thought it was super cool.  After the mound, we were able to see an old school house.  Around the entire city was a mote that the Indians dug out. There were parts of the mote that were more prominent than others.   At the end of the loop there was a cemetery that had graves from the early 1800's.

Our Second stop was to Graceland!!  No we didn't go into Graceland (because it was super pricey) but we did  drive by and take a few pictures.  This is the home of Elvis Presley!!  His collection of cars and jets are still here and if you pay a million bucks, you can go see them all.

Our Third stop was to the local skatepark.  The kids found this park and were super excited to go to it.  When we drove up to it, it looked like a bad park.  The kids still got out to give it a chance.  It didn't take long for the kids to like the park.  They all found great lines and did some great tricks.  Graham landed his 360 and it was so great.  All the locals were cheering him on when he landed it.  Asher did his back flips and flairs and the locals were blown away. We were accepted in no time ;))). Scotty even got out on his board and made me blush;)))

Our last stop for the day was to Costco!!  We love Costco.

Beautiful day, Beautiful night.  Good night Memphis!!
