Monday November 2, 2020. Goodbye Deskins, Hello Charlottesville VA

This morning was sad.  It was hard to watch the kids say goodbye to each other.  Little Keira started crying and it made us cry.  My kids love their cousins.  It didn't help that when we pulled away, the song, "Till we meet again" came on.  hahahah.  Asher said he is really going to miss them.  Taj started crying and said that he didn't want to leave.  Pepper and Graham both were so sad.  It did warm my heart that my kids learned to love their family and they will always remember the sweet relationships that they have made.  We stayed at Abe and Tiffany's house for 9 days.  Never once did we feel a burden to them.  They made us feel so welcome and comfortable.  I hope to be so giving and selfless like them.  We love the Deskins family!!!!

P.S.  Graham's doctor called me this morning.  He informed me that Graham tore his Medial Collateral Ligament but that this ligament will heal on its own in 6 weeks.  The bad news is that he also tore his Medial Meniscal Ligament.  This ligament will not heal on its own. It will need surgery :(. The doctor said that the timing to get surgery will totally depend on the pain that Graham is in after the 6 week mark.  So, we will see:)). I'll keep you informed of any other changes to this.

Homie was parked only 4 miles away.  When we got to him, he was dead :(. The batteries were fried.  Why??  Well, it has been really cold and we were worried about the pipes freezing, so we kept the tank heater on all night. It burned out the batterie.  Oops.  So here we were, outside wind that had 50 mph gusts, 39 degrees, trying to jump start our generator.  It was no fun.  While Scotty was out working on the jump start, the kids and I were in the truck praying that it would start.  After about 20 minutes, it started.  We were so relieved.  The first thing we did was say a "thank you" prayer.  After we got the trailer all hooked up and the "feet" that level the trailer pulled up, we took off.  Our drive to Charlottesville was very easy and fast.  You can imagine how happy we were to see that it was 50 degrees in Charlottesville instead of 39:))))).

Taj. Funny boy

Our stop here in Charlottesville VA was meant to spend time in Shenandoah National Park.  On our way down we drove through part of it.  Because we decided to extend our time at the Deskins house, we only had today to spend in the national park.  Unfortunately, when we got camp all set up, no one wanted to go and see the park. Graham can't really hike and the rest of us were so tired.  I also decided that I wanted to hit Costco to buy heaters for the trailer.  Our fire place is amazing and it keeps us warm, but with temps in the 30's at night, it won't keep us warm.  I bought two heaters, one for the garage and one for my room.  The fireplace can keep the kitchen area warm.  We will now be super warm all winter:))))))). After our Costco visit, the kids did some school work and we basically chilled all night.  We leave tomorrow for our next stop.  Time is flying for us.

  1. What a lovely time you had with cousins. Does this mean Graham has to wait 6 weeks for surgery (if surgery is needed). Where will you be then? Will you have to go to a local hospital or surgical center or fly home for a few days? I can imagine you're dealing with a lot of stuff. Safe travels! 🙏🤔😊❤️

  2. AWWWW, it's so cute to see how much cousins love each other. We can't wait to see you! I know it's not as fun as Abe's and the wee little cute cousins but we will try to have some fun:)
