Welcome to Williamsburg Virginia!!!
Today was our last day here in Williamsburg. We all spent the day in Old Town Williamsburg!! Williamsburg was one of America's first planned cities. Governor Francis Nicholson laid it out in 1699. It was the new capital of the British Colonies after Jamestown. It remained the capital of America until the 1780's. The capital was then moved to Richmond, VA.
The buildings in Williamsburg are not the originals but replicas. Many people worked in the area that explained what and how the people lived during that time. It was very interesting to see how they planted, make cups and teas pots, raised chickens, yarn, knifes and how they made guns. The Rocks and the LaBass', walked around all day learning and enjoying each other.
The Governors Palace
Two shirts I liked that guys were wearing.
We learned how to greet in the 1700's. "Good Day" with a curtsey.
This was the kids favorite part of the day ;)). Hide and seek in the maze.
The Court House
We ate lunch here
The Black Smith's
The Shoe Makers
The cup makers
The Capital
Our tickets included the Art Museum. We went there but it was not a huge hit:) Everyone was so tired that walking through a museum was torture. We didn't stay very long.
After a long day, we all settled in at the trailers. The kids went to our trailer again for games and movies. The adults enjoyed a fire with cookies and soda:))). It was perfect!! No one wanted to go to bed because that meant that the last day together was over. Tomorrow we will both leave and our time together will be over. :(. The Rocks have an eight hour drive back to Ohio where we met them, and we will drive north two hours to visit another cousin of mine. It wasn't until about 11 PM that we called the night. It's so amazing that we met them in Ohio, spent 3 days with them, and now we all feel like family.
