Wednesday November 4, 2020 Jamestown Virginia

Welcome to Jamestown!!!!!

We are now in Williamsburg Virginia. Here we will be able to go and see the Historic Triangle: Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown.  I am loving learning about the beginnings of our country.  The stories of the colonists, all the wars that gave us our freedom.  Our favorite saying now is, "Give me Liberty, or Give me Death".
This morning was so peaceful!!  I got to run, we read our scriptures, the kids did their school work quietly and quickly, then we got to spend the whole day in Jamestown.  Jamestown was amazing.  We went to the Jamestown Settlement.  This is a museum with indoor and outdoor displays that taught us the history of Jamestown, how the colonists lived, the hardships they had, the many deaths that occurred and we got to see the three ships that brought colonists to Jamestown.  A worker there did a musket demonstration.  It was SO loud!!!!  There was also a setting dedicated to show how the Indians lived.  The information we learned lit our minds on fire.  We learned so much.  Yes, we had learned about Jamestown in our History class during home schooling, but being at the exact spot of Jamestown and seeing, hearing and watching history unfold was priceless.  I am so grateful for the education that we all got while in Jamestown today.

When we got home, we had the best surprise waiting for us.  The Rock Family!!!!  Yes!!! They drove all the way down from Ohio to spend time with us.  They drove their camper down and got a campsite next to us.  What a treat!!!  I made dinner for both families.  We ate together and caught up all night.  The kids were I heaven!!!!  We love the Rock family.  They are basically family to us. We are going to have so much fun with them!!!!!!

  1. Nice! We missed Jamestown due to lack of time when we were there. Can you imagine sailing on those small ships??!! What a surprise! Remind me if the Rocks are cousins or new friends you met along the way?
