Saturday November 14, 2020 Congaree National Park South Carolina

Camping in the Sesquicentennial State Park has been so great because the main trial is literally right outside our front door.  We let the kids sleep in today and Scotty and I hit the trial.  The morning was absolutely beautiful and refreshing.  Just what we needed:)).

Saturday Morning Cartoons :)) hahaha

This map is outside on one of our slides.  We are filling up the states!!  It's so fun to put a new state sticker on each time we go to a new state.  Simple Joys!!

Today we spent the day in Congaree National Park.  This park was totally different from others but absolutely worth the stop.  The park is basically swamp land that has outstanding biodiversity.  We were so amazed at the different types of life we found. The history of the park was also very interesting to learn.

Check out this black and yellow garden spider we found.  I am going to have nightmares of this thing.

Taj and Pepper wanted to earn their Jr. Ranger for this park so they got the books and went to work.  Taj took it very seriously.  He was so cute about making us stop to fill out another page.

There are many trails to wonder on at the park but most of them were under water today.  We got to walk on the wooden trail that is elevated above the water.  I thought the wooden trail was the coolest thing ever. Because of the recent rains, the water levels were very high.  I kept joking that a shark or a gator was going to jump out and eat us.  Nope, there are no sharks or gators here.

I love these pictures!!!

I think these pictures are going to be my kids official school pictures for the year.  Brought to you from South Carolina!!

Taj and Pepper got their Jr Ranger awards!!!  They were so excited.  The Visitors Center was actually closed but this kind man came out to give the kids their awards.

Just an update from North Carolina.
I can't believe how much rain they got after we left.  We were truly guided by Heavenly Father to get out of there before the major floods came.  I pray for those affected that they will be uplifted and comforted after this tragedy.
