Saturday August 8, 2020. Goodbye Chicago Hello Indiana

Traveling on a Saturday is great.  It's great because we don't have to leave super early.  That means that Scotty and I can get some exercise before we drive away.  I got up and ran 11 miles with Asher on a bike, and Scotty did a bike ride around town. It always makes us feel so much better if we can exercise.                                                                                                                                                              Packing the trailer was easy so we left our campground around 10 AM.  Our next destination is in Indiana.  We drove by Chicago and waved goodbye, then headed towards Hanna, Indiana.

Our next campground was called Last Resort. It only took us 3 hours of driving to get to it. After checking in, we pulled into our tight spot.  Yes, it was tight.  The good thing was that our neighbors were super cool.   We had issues with their 50 amp power box from the beginning. Our surge protector said that it had  "reverse polarity".  So we had to stay unplugged most of the time. If we didn't have our surge protector then the electricity would have fried our fridge and microwave and anything that was plugged into our trailer.  I'm so glad that we listened to our podcast friends and got a surge protector.

About a month ago I text Mikayla Smith (Low) to let her know that we were going to be close to her in Indiana and I asked her if they wanted to meet up with us and play???  They were so on board!!!  They booked a tent spot right by our site.  We got to play with them all day today.  It was so fun and so good to see familiar faces.

First we set up our trailer with the help of the Smith's, then they got the grand tour.  Mikayla made some yummy guacamole and we all ate sandwiches and caught up. We found out about her internship here in Indiana and we talked to Taylor more then we ever have.  They were so cute and delightful. We sat and chatted for a long time.  Then we finally decided that we'd better get going if we wanted to see the dunes!!!

Our plan for the night was to go to Indiana Dunes National Park.  We found a great beach that was part of the park that was only 30 minutes away from us. We all packed up food and towels and hit the road. The beach was off of Lake Michigan.  We looked across the lake and we could see the high towers of buildings in Chicago.  SO COOL!!!!. The water was cold for me but not for the others. We stayed to watch the sunset and enjoyed the time together. I love the great lakes.  They are absolutely gorgeous.  I bought a magnet that says, "The Lake are Calling and I Must Go"  hahahhaha.  Mikayla and Taylor were so dang funny.  At one point Taylor said to Taj, "Mikayla's hair is dry.  Should we help her"?  Then both Taylor and Taj started splashing her.  She loved it.  It was so funny.

The blue dot is where we were on the lake.
