Wednesday August 19, 2020 School and Hopewell Mounds

Here we are day 2 of school.  Things went a bit smoother but we still have some work to do to make our schedules smooth.  All in all, it wasn't too bad today.
Well, school drove Graham to do the potato chip today but other than that it was fine 😂
After work and school today we wanted to go see some of the Hopewell Mounds here in Illinois.  If you aren't familiar with these, watch this VIDEO and it will explain what they are and why they are so important to us as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The link works on my computer but not on my phone. I’m not sure why.  It's so interesting.  Anyways, we drove a few minutes to see them.   We were blown away.  We are studying the war chapters in the Book of Mormon so this really hit home with us today.

Some historians have been researching this area.  We were told that possibly this is the area that Captain Moroni built his walls so high that the Lamanites didn't attack them.  I wouldn't be surprised if this was right where Moroni built his walls up.

Here are the mounds. They aren't huge but there are a lot of them.

This is a vacation rental along the Mississippi. It's full of spiders and scared us.  Don't rent this for a vacation. It'll end up as a doomcation!!!!
We were told that you could find geodes along the Mississippi.  We had to stop and try to find some.  Graham found one that was broken open already and not quite formed.
