Wednesday July 1, 2020 Air and Space Museum AND The Petrified Forest of the Black Hills

Today we went to the South Dakota Air and Space Museum. All the jets were from the Air Force. Graham was in heaven.  He walked around and named every jet and told me facts about each one.  I have no idea how he remembers all that. I was impressed. Asher kept asking why we were there looking at giant hot dogs.  Lol.  I loved the feeling of patriotism  that came along with walking around the jets. I'm proud to be an American!!!!

This is the Candy Bomber. This story is one of our favorites. For the full story click here

When Graham had enough time exploring the jets, we jumped in the car and drove to our next stop, The Petrified Forest of the Black Hills.  The very first thing that happened was that Taj found a caterpillar. He is so funny.  There is a short guided hike that they have there for you to see the petrified wood.  First we all learned about how the wood petrifies.  The process is so cool to me. The trees in this specific location are from the Cretaceous period - around 120 millions years old.  I made jokes that dinosaurs scratched up against the trees that we were touching.  How cool is that?!!!  We enjoyed seeing all the different specimens that they had there. When we were done with the hike, we found a table and had lunch.

"Ugh. Mom". hahahha.  Look at that face

We ended the night swimming at the RV park and watching movies.  South Dakota is amazing!!
