Monday July 13, 2020 Painted Canyon - Roosevelt -Cowboy Hall of Fame - Boots Cafe

Today was so full.  We covered a lot of ground.  In the morning we started off with a really cool hike down Painted Canyon.  The trail was steep but the canyon left its memories with us.  The kids climbed on everything they could.  Taj did a great job keeping up with the big boys.   Hiking is so fun with my crazy kids.

After the hike we went to the city park. It happened to be super cool.  It's all made of wood.    It looks like an old saloon.
Then we went for ice cream and fudge.  Yummy.

My dad ran into a few poles as we walked through the town :)

This was at the ice cream shop. I loved it.

Then we went to a play about Theodore Roosevelt.  It explained his time here in North Dakota and all the important moments in his life.  It was awesome.  We learned so much and I was so grateful for all the new knowledge.

Then we made our way over to the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. We watched a short movie about the history of this area and the key people from here.  Among all the things we learned, we were taught that the Indians had horses but not the big tall horses we think of.  Before the Spanish brought tall horses, they had tiny horses the size of dogs.  Generations told stories of tiny horses and they have found bones of these horses.  Crazy right????  Who know???

Asher did a back flip right in the middle of everything. I was glad we didn't get kicked out.

We all went and ate dinner at  Boots Cafe - a yummy local place.  Our waiter was from South Africa.  He was very unique.
We ended the day with a bike ride and then packing up the trailer because we leave tomorrow.

Then. .. during the night we had a crazy hail storm.  The stones were as big as golf balls. It was so crazy.  We thought our truck and trailer were going to break. It was loud and a bit scary.  All four kids ended up in my room. That part was funny to me.  My big boys came running into my room because of the noise :)))))
