Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP) has two units to it; the North Unit and the South Unit. The last couple of days we have explored the South Unit. Medora is minutes away from the South Unit. For some reason, the North Unit is 1 hour and 15 minutes North of Medora. We couldn't figure a way to go to the North Unit AND do what we had planned these last two days. My parents and I really wanted to go see the cannon balls there and the capped rocks, so, our solution was to go visit the North Unit after we had checked out today. It took some figuring out because the North Unit has no space for us to leave our trailers. I did some research and found that we could leave our trailer at a gas station while we went to explore the North Unit. So, we both unhooked our trailers and left them at the Cenex for the day. We drove up to the North Unit and did a few hikes looking at the cool cannon ball formations. We were super excited to see the cap rocks. We assumed that there was a huge cap rock somewhere to see that was the same cap rock that is in all the TRNP pictures. We looked and looked and didn't find it. We were a bit disappointed. We were all so super tired today too. Everyone was dragging their feet.

After we were done with TRNP we said a very sad goodbye to my parents as we will be going in opposite directions now. We drove two and a half hours east to our next campground. As we were driving we passed through the Central Time Zone. So now we are 2 hours ahead of CA time. We arrived in a tiny town called Dawson North Dakota. It is just under an hour east of Bismark. Our campground is behind the Wolf Bar and Grill. When we got here I was a little unsure about this place. Literally it is a field with random hookups in it. It is completely different from the campgrounds we have become used to. It didn't cost us much so that was good. We decided to make the best of it and we parked in the middle of two spots and gave ourselves tons of room. We are here until Friday. The reason why we picked this stop was to explore the capital of North Dakota, Bismark. We unpacked the trailer and everyone went to bed.

Enjoy Bismark and sites around. Too bad your parents had to go home. Stay safe!
