Wednesday April 21, 2021- Angel Falls Via Willow Creek Trail by Bass Lake

School took most of the morning and afternoon again today.  Around 3 PM we all drove over to Bass Lake to a hiking trail that I found on my trail app.  This trail followed a river all the way up to an amazing water fall named Angel falls.  It was about 4 miles round trip full of adventure and power.  

This trail was not a hard trail to hike, but there were a few sketchy parts.  The worst part was when we had to cross the wild rushing river to keep on the trail.  The first spot that we chose to cross, wasn't the best spot.  Scotty actually fell in :(. He was OK but wet for the remainder of the hike.  Asher found a different spot that was easier and less sketchy.  

Here is Asher helping Pepper cross the river on the safer part. I have to say, it made me super nervous and I don't get nervous very much with my kids.  We all made it across safely both on the way up and on the way back.   

There was a zip line that you could use to cross the river but it was chained up so we couldn't use it :(

This was when Scotty fell in. 

Scotty got Taj across here, but Pepper and I went with Asher to the easier spot to cross.  

Here he is all wet.  

We found a newt.  "She turned me into a newt".  "I got betta".  Hahahahaha

At the top of the falls, Ashers beloved Bass Pro Shop hat went for a swim in the river, never to be seen again:(. He was so sad.  He got that hat at the pyramid in Memphis.  Such a bummer.

We really liked this hike.  No one was on the trial, just us, and the newt:). 

I was walking and then I turned around to see Scotty with his pocket knife and wood.  He was walking and carving out this stick.  I died laughing.  

Families that cross crazy rivers together, stay together:)))

Too bad that Judy's donut shop was closed on our way home.  Maybe tomorrow;))
