Friday November 27, 2020 Travel Day Down to the Keys!!!

Fort Lauderdale has been one of my favorite places we've been to so far.  I could live here.  If we had more family here, and if Scotty would agree, I'd say we are moving here.  I wish!!!

Thursday November 26, 2020. Happy Thanksgiving!! Gators and the Beach!!

Good Morning from Fort Lauderdale!!
We are two and a half miles from the Fort Lauderdale temple.  We are so sad that it is closed.  Scotty and I are yearning to go back to the temple.  Our plan for this trip was to hit as many temples as we could and do baptisms with the boys.  Well, they are all closed so all we can do is take pictures in front of them.  I sure hope they open soon.

Monday November 23, 2020 Travel Day to Fort Lauderdale FL

Thanksgiving will be celebrated in Fort Lauderdale/Miami this year!!!  We drove about 2 hours south to the KOA in Davie/Fort Lauderdale FL.  The drive was smooth and easy and we really like our new KOA.  The best parts of today had to do with animals.  Scotty caught a lizard so Taj could hold it AND there are ugly ducks everywhere at our new KOA.  The ducks are hilarious.  They walk right up to our trailer and look at us.  It's weird.

Sunday November 22, 2020. Church and Gators

There is a branch here in Okeechobee!!  The branch president invited us to join them.  Asher and Graham got to pass the sacrament again!  It is always wonderful to watch them use their priesthood!!

Saturday November 21, 2020. Farewell Disney, Hello Okeechobee

And that's a wrap.  Our Disney adventure has come to an end:(
This morning we packed up the trailer and left for our next adventure. . . . a day of rest:)) hahah. We are so exhausted.  Our next stop is a mid point between two destinations so we will take advantage of the time and rest.

Favorite Pictures from Disney

Here are my favorite pictures from our three days in Disney that we got from the photo pass.  The pass was totally worth it.  I love these pictures, well, except for the masks.  But hey, it's 2020:)))). We will always remember when we had to wear masks.  These memories are priceless!!!!

Sunday November 15, 2020 Church and The Start of a Long Drive Towards Florida

Church was at 9 AM today with the South Carolina ward.  We took a picture and hurried back to the trailer to pack up and be out by 12 PM.  This state park has been really cool and we've  enjoyed the forest scenery that we've been living in.  Another great place that we've found!!!

Saturday November 14, 2020 Congaree National Park South Carolina

Camping in the Sesquicentennial State Park has been so great because the main trial is literally right outside our front door.  We let the kids sleep in today and Scotty and I hit the trial.  The morning was absolutely beautiful and refreshing.  Just what we needed:)).

Thursday November 12, 2020 We Couldn't Get Out Fast Enough!!!

Rain, rain and more rain.  It was raining so hard that we had flash flood warnings all night.  I wanted out!! That is the best thing about living the way we do. . . . You don't like the weather. . . So, leave!!!!  In the morning, I had about an hour break in the rain so I went for a run.  Here are a few pictures of Four Oaks.  This place is defiantly  a "low income" area.

Wednesday November 11, 2020 Perfect Rainy Day

It rained all day today. We took advantage of the rain and did school most of the afternoon.  The kids are mostly caught up from the last couple of weeks.  Taj was super excited because he finished another book for school.  Now I need to get him another writing book!!!  Cute boy.  Pepper and Graham finished their papers on Gettysburg and all their math.  Asher completed a lot of his weeks work.  I'd say it was a great school day.

Tuesday November 10, 2020 Travel Day to North Carolina

Monday November 9, 2020 - Montpelier and Civil War Battle Grounds

This morning we decided to go to Montepelier, the home of James Madison.  James Madison was the fourth president of the USA.  One thing I learned was that he was a very humble guy.  He didn't want a head stone on his grave.  Years after his death, family erected a beautiful monument in honor of him.  The house and the grounds were stunning.  Montepelier is a beautiful piece of our history that reminded me of why the USA is so great and how inspired our founding fathers were.  I LOVE the USA!!

Guess who surprised us with a visit today??? Yes, Tiffany drove her kids down to spend the day with us!!! My kids were in heaven and so excited.  Family is the best!!!  Thank you Tiffany for spending the day with us.

Sunday November 8, 2020 The Persian Group and Arlington War Memorial

Happy Sunday!!!
Nadia is the Persian Group Relief Society President so we drove an hour with them to go to the Persian Group for church.  The whole time they were talking Farsi and we had no idea what they were saying.  They had an interpreter there so we could understand the meeting :). It was seriously so cool to hear Farsi.  Not to mention that it was such a blessing to see Nadia and Isaac in their element;))). If you want to see a cute video the church did of Nadia, click HERE

Thursday November 5, 2020 Yorktown Virginia

Sophie told Graham to get up with her for seminary.  He totally got up this morning at 5:50AM to go outside and do seminary with Sophie.  How awesome!!  It was so fun to wake up and have the kids run outside to go play with the Rocks.  Taj showed Kyle how to use his fishing pole.  Pepper and Shayla ran around and giggled.  Then most of the kids ended up at the gravity swing in the KOA.  So fun!!!  Then we had to pull them in to do school.  :(. Bummer.  hahahah.  All the kids did school until about 12 PM.  At that point we packed up and both families went to Yorktown.  We were ready for more knowledge!!!

Wednesday November 4, 2020 Jamestown Virginia

Tuesday November 3, 2020. Happy Election Day

Election Day for us started out on a great trail in the Shenandoah Nation Park, Virginia.  We couldn't leave this place without exploring the park.  Our time was limited, so we left early in the morning to be back by noon for check out. We drove along the Skyline Drive and ended up hiking on a trail named Jones Run Falls TrailHead.  The hike was short but beautiful in a Halloween kind of way.  All the leaves had fallen off and the trees were bare.  We spent way too much time there.  It was sad to leave such a beautiful place.  Our time management skills were really bad and we got back to our trailer at 1 PM to leave.  Oops.  We were an hour late for check out.  hahahah.  No worries.  It all worked out fine.

Monday November 2, 2020. Goodbye Deskins, Hello Charlottesville VA

This morning was sad.  It was hard to watch the kids say goodbye to each other.  Little Keira started crying and it made us cry.  My kids love their cousins.  It didn't help that when we pulled away, the song, "Till we meet again" came on.  hahahah.  Asher said he is really going to miss them.  Taj started crying and said that he didn't want to leave.  Pepper and Graham both were so sad.  It did warm my heart that my kids learned to love their family and they will always remember the sweet relationships that they have made.  We stayed at Abe and Tiffany's house for 9 days.  Never once did we feel a burden to them.  They made us feel so welcome and comfortable.  I hope to be so giving and selfless like them.  We love the Deskins family!!!!

Sunday November 1, 2020 Happy Birthday Pepper

Happy Birthday Pepper!!!  The big 1-0.  Double digits!!!!
I can't believe that my girl is 10!!! We covered her in balloons before the woke up.  She was so happy to have her favorite colors all over!!!

Saturday October 31, 2020. Happy Halloween and Harper’s Ferry

                                             Happy Halloween!!!!!!

We spent the day in Harpers Ferry.  It was spooky!!!!!  hahahah

Harpers Ferry is in West Virginia so by going there, we got to mark off West Virginia for the trip!!!!!! yay!!!!

Harpers Ferry is famous for being the initiator of the Civil War.  John Brown was an abolitionist who led a raid on the Federal Armory. He tried to arm slaves, who didn't arm themselves.  Brown's group all died.  Brown himself, was hanged.  The tension from his death and raid was the catalyst for the Civil War.  Interesting right??

The Potomac runs by this area.  It is such a beautiful river.  We got to walk on part of the Appellation Trail for a little bit too. We seriously had a wonderful day.

Did I mention that it is cold??? It's freezing!!! I'm dying.  Our California bodies aren't used to cold like this.  hahahah.  I know, we are babies:))
