Thursday June 24, 2021 - Welcome to Philipsburg, Montana!!!!

The original itinerary for our trip had us in Canada during this week and next.  With Covid, the Prime Minister hasn't opened the borders yet, so I had to re-route us for the two weeks. I asked my RV Lifestyle group on Facebook where we should go.  A lady recommended coming here to Philipsburg.  The next few stops that we will make are all part of the "re-route" part of our trip!!!

  

Philipsburg is a small, cute, 1900's mining town.  They have one main road that has all the shops on it. We found interest in their candy shop, bakery and their Gem Mine!!! 

You might have guessed, but our first stop was to the candy shop called The Sweet Palace!!!  It seriously is the worlds greatest candy store!!  And a guilt free zone!!!  Yay candy and sugar and diabetes and yumminess!!!  Hahahaha.  We all picked some candies and proceeded upstairs to their "palace area" where they had  tables set up for you to enjoy your treats!!  So lovely!!

Then. . . . We went to Gem Mountain!!!!  I was so excited for this!!!  If you follow us, you know that we dug for diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas.  We didn't find any diamonds :(. Here at Gem Mountain, there is a 100% chance that you will find a gem.  Yay for finding Gems!!!  

There is a gem mine around here that this company digs in and brings dirt to this area for people to go sift through to find gems.  One blue bucket full of dirt is $35.  We only did one bucket today.

After you clean the rocks, you dump them on a table and begin to sift through to find gems!!  We found so many and had a blast!!  They look like glass when you find them.  We found a lot of green and blue gems. Some pink and some clear.

This activity seriously was a blast!!  I am so grateful for the person who suggested that we come here.  What a fun time!!  

Scotty and I got out for dinner tonight!!  Date night!!  We ate at the local Brewery.  I had a tuna melt and Scotty got a hamburger.  We love it here!!  Montana is still my favorite!! (In the summer)
