Sunday June 27, 2021 Church and Granit Mountain Ghost Town

Happy Sunday!!
Today we joined a small branch here in Philipsburg for church.  The members of this branch travel from other towns to run the meetings.  They said that visitors usually make up the most part of their numbers. Just like all the other wards we have visited, the meetings were wonderful and the spirit was there.  They asked Asher to help pass the sacrament.  I love going to church with no masks on and I love shaking hands with people!!

Silly Taj picture.

After church, we did our Come Follow Me, ate and played games together.  I realized that we only have 5 weeks left of our trip :(. I am so sad.  I don't want this to be over.  Speaking for myself - this trip has been the best adventure of my life - my mission to Chile comes in second place. I will forever be grateful to my Heavenly Father for allowing us to experience all that we have.  As a family and individualy, we have all grown in so many ways.  This has and will truly be the biggest turning point of all our lives.  That's why I hate to see that it's almost over.  At least we have 5 more weeks to enjoy!!!

When it cooled off a little, we drove up a bumpy, steep dirt road to a Ghost Town!!!
In the 1870's this small mining town was kicking!!  They mined for all kinds of minerals but mainly silver. They pulled 40 million $$ in silver from this mine.  We found a lot of buildings.  Some were made of wood and others of some sort of stone.  You can tell that this was a thriving community at one point.  As for now, it's just a ghost town!!

This building was lived in until 1965 by a lady who was the water commissioner of Deer Lodge.
