Scotty and I got up and rode our bikes into Glacier this morning. Biking is a perfect way to take in the beauty of Glacier. And. . We got a "bike date" out of it:)))
After the bike ride, the kids and I went to the KOA's spa. This spa is huge!! It's like a kiddi pool. They even put a decorative rock in the middle of the spa because it had room.
Pepper is lying on the rock here. So funny;)
Our family activity for today was to go on a boat tour of St. Mary's lake. The tour was relaxing and very informative. We learned a lot. We learned about the last fire they had here and why the trees are dying. They are dying because of Pine Beatles and Winter Kill. Winter kill happens when there is a ginormous temperature swing in a 24 hour time period. One time the temps went from 80 degrees to -17 in a 24 hour time period. Crazy!! So when the temps are 80 degrees or warm, the trees think it's spring. The trees then release their sap. Then the deadly temperature swing happens and it gets super cold. The sap basically expands until the tree explodes. Then the tree dies. Nuts!!

The bike ride made Scotty tired;))
This is Wild Goose Island. We renamed it Silly Goose Island in honor of Ezra from San Francisco;))) Asher misses his Silly Goose friend.
This rock is 1.9 billion years old. Older than the dinosaurs. Long ago two earth plates collided. One plate was of newer rock and the other was very old. Normally when two plates collide, they make a majestic mountain. Not this time. For some reason the old plate jumped the newer plate and then covered it for 50 miles. That is why we get to see this rock mass that is 1.9 billion years old;))

Scotty got fried avocado as part of his Mexican dinner tonight. It was OK. Not my favorite. Avocado is already the yummiest. No need to fry it;) We love East Glacier! Tomorrow we travel to West Glacier.
