Today is the day!! As a family, we all went to find some gems!!! We bought three buckets today!! With six people, the three buckets actually went by pretty fast. Everyone found great finds! Lots of sapphires of all colors today. The difference between today and the last two days of gem finding, was that we made an appointment to get our gems evaluated! They look at each sapphire and tell you which ones are good to heat and cut and which ones are not. We found 15 good ones that can be heated and cut. Then, we found a ton of sapphires that have a few flaws but can still be heated and cut. The largest pile that we found were sapphires that had way too many flaws to heat so we can do something fun with these.
Here is the loot. The pile on the left are the gems that are great for heating and cutting. The pile in the middle are the ones that have a few cracks but are fine for heating and cutting. The pile on the right are ones that we can do something creative with but without heating or cutting. Cool right???!!! Pepper found one that is 4.8 carats. They said that if we heat it and cute it and put it in something, it could be worth $1400. Wow!!! Go Pepper!! Maybe we will make something for her that she can hand down to her daughter. Then her daughter and so forth. That would be cool.
After a long, fun day of searching for gems, we ate ice cream, again!!!! Hahaha.
Then we ate pizza. The pizza place only took cash. These people standing with Scotty didn't have cash, so he bought their pizza and told them to pay it forward. He's the best.
Then we went for a bike ride around town.
Then we hung out with our neighbors who are here to find gems just like us!!! We had a memorable day!!!
