Scotty and I got up early to get out!!!
Our next two stops don't have grocery stores. They only have little town markets. I've learned to not rely on them because of inventory and price. I found a Costco in Santa Rosa that happened to be on our route!! We drove up to Costco and then stopped for a while so Scotty could take some calls and so that I could stock up for the next two weeks. Two shopping carts later. . . hahahaha - where are we going to put all this??? It's a good thing that I am a master at Tetris!! I was able to get everything in the fridge and freezer. The other stuff I made fit as well!! It was a miracle!!!
Our drive over to the coast was CRAZY!! We had to take the 128 down from the 101. The 128 was a tight, squiggly road that was not made for large trailers or trucks. I still saw large trucks and trailers on it so we proceeded. I drove part way, then Scotty and I switched because I was so exhausted. He had no reception so he couldn't work anyways. I gladly gave him the wheel on this one.
Here is the last part of the squiggly road. So nerve racking. And extremely hard on our brakes.
We have become wise in our driving while pulling Homie. If we notice there are lots of hill and breaking, then we make sure to pull over and let the breaks cool off. At one point, we pulled over to let cars pass and to let the breaks cool. We had a casualty :(. Scotty accidentally hit this tree. Our awning lost a plastic part and we ripped a small part of the fabric :(. We were both so sad.
After enough stress to fill an ocean, we finally arrived at our KOA in Manchester Beach. This place has black sand beaches and a heated pool. Heaven!!! I picked this spot as a rest stop. I haven't done this in the trip yet. Our plan is to purely rest and do nothing. Yup, you read that right. . NOTHING. We are all still tired from Hawaii and from all the places since. This stop will hopefully help us rest up and get ready for the last push of our trip.
The heated pool and spa will be used by us quite a bit!!!
