Monday May 17, 2021 -Travel Day to Crater Lake National Park Oregon

Happy 19th Anniversary to Scotty and I!!  Yay!
Today we travel.  I got up early to run and then to hit the grocery store before we packed.  When I got back from shopping, I woke up the kids and we packed with a departing goal of 11 AM.

We had a sad goodbye to my parents.  They will head home now as we head north to Oregon.

The kids worked hard to pack everything up and we made our 11 AM goal.  Our drive up to Oregon should have been about three hours.  We made one stop for about an hour and a half so Scotty could work. We pulled  into our KOA around 4 PM.

Bye Bye Mom and Dad:(

We entered a new state today;))). Oregon!!!

This is where we stopped.

Our KOA is called Lemolo Lake / Crater Lake KOA.  We are about 15 miles from the North Entrance of Crater Lake NP.

Checking in was easy and then we drove up to pull into our campsite.  This was not easy.  To get into our site, we had to make two turns.  The first turn was impossible for us to make. We were way too long.  We backed up Homie three or four times trying different angles to get in.  No good.  We were stuck. This was the first time that we have actually gotten stuck.  What did we get stuck on??  A tree.

See that tree next to Homie??  Yup, that bad boy made it so we couldn't clear the turn.  The owner of the KOA was so super cool.  He came and looked at it and decided that they had to cut down the tree so we could get in.  Yup, you read that right, they had to cut down a tree.  One of the workers came over and tied the tree down so it would fall away from our trailer.  Then he pulled out his chain saw!  This was actually pretty cool to watch.  They cut it down and then we were able to make the turn.  That was only the first turn.  Now, we had to make the second turn.  This one was very tight and we had to try it twice because of the trees that we almost hit.  Fortunately, we didn't have to cut down any trees.  We had like 4 KOA workers there helping us.  All the people there camping were outside watching the show.  We didn't know if we should have been embarrassed or upset or just grateful that Homie only had a few injuries from the whole ordeal and not anything major.  OOf.  Needless to say, Scotty and I were extra tired when it was all said and done.  The owner said that our trailer and truck combination was the largest and longest that they had ever had here.  They were already making plans to widen the two turns for future big rigs.
