As usual, we got up early and left for or trek to our next destination!! The drive out of the Umpqua National Forest was a very easy drive. I was sad to see the after math of a fire that they had last year here. So many trees were burned. I mean, thousands upon thousands were burned. And these weren't trees that were small and young. These trees were tall with thick trunks. There were workers clearing the trees that posed a threat to the road. They were cutting down all the trees that would fall on the road or that were unsafe for one reason or another. The fire last year here was bad. It must have been huge. I felt like I was driving through a tree grave yard with hundreds upon hundreds years of history. So sad:(
Here are pictures of the trees, all burned.
Once out of the Umpqua Forest, we stopped at a Costco that was off of the 5 freeway. We parked on the side of the parking lot. Scotty worked while I did some shopping. We needed to stock up on our groceries.

I got the kids lunch from Costco too:))
After Costco, we drove a bit more until we had to stop so Scotty could finish up his important calls for the day. It's so fun to be surrounded by beauty.

We finally were able to finish our drive for the day. Our KOA is in Waldport, just south of Newport Oregon. I didn't get pictures of our KOA just yet. After we unpacked, we all chilled and went to bed. Travel days are long days.

Newport is fun. I hope things are open. There are some good seafood and souvenir shops down by the water, you can watch the sea lions, or go to some quaint shops and museums. There is an acquarium and sea lion caves if you'll be in the area a few days. The best taffy and caramel corn are north a bit to the community of Depot Bay.
