Tuesday October 20, 2020. Our Last Day in the Big Apple

This morning we had some extra time to do some school work. Scotty had some calls he had to do at home,  so we focused on getting a lot of school done.  We took the 3:15 PM ferry out of Liberty Harbor and headed towards Manhattan for our very last day in the big city. We took our bikes because we wanted to ride through Central Park today.

Here Graham, Pepper and Taj are showing their artwork from art class.

On our way out, we saw this big machine coming with a boat inside of it. It was moving the boat from the water to the yard.

Here we are with our bikes out getting ready to leave.

NY Waterway!!!  We were always be thankful for the many times that you take us over to Hudson to get to our Destination.

Taj found a penny.

Our last ferry ride out from Liberty Harbor.

Scotty Wanted to ride our bikes over the Brooklyn Bridge. The entrance for the bikes to the Brooklyn Bridge was just a few blocks away from the pier that we were dropped off on. As a family we rode up and across and down the Brooklyn Bridge all the way into Brooklyn. We thought that was so much fun, so we decided to go back on the Manhattan Bridge.  Again, as a family we road up and over and down the Manhattan Bridge all the way back into Manhattan. The subway rode across the Manhattan Bridge while we were riding. It was really loud. Taj did not like how loud the subway was going past us.

After we rode over the bridges, we rode our bikes all the way north to Central Park.   I’m sure that most families don’t do what we did today. We took our four kids on the bike lane, through Chinatown and other suburbs,  all the way up to Central Park. We were very careful and try to be as safe as possible but we will never do that again. We feel very blessed and fortunate that nothing bad happened.

Central park

Scotty had to take a call for work,  and Asher had to do a zoom call for his math class,  so we hung out in Central Park while we waited for them to finish.

When Asher was done with his call, we went up to the Belvedere Castle. The view is spectacular.

When we were all done at Central Park and it was starting to get dark, we rode by the Manhattan LDS temple. It was on a very busy street but we could still feel the peace coming from the building.

We were all super hungry at this point, so we decided to go catch a ferry to take us over to Jersey City and then get food there. We took our last ferry over the Hudson from Manhattan to Jersey.  It was very sad to think that it was our last time.  The memories we’ve made here will be with us forever. I’m so grateful that we were able to spend a week in Manhattan.

We decided to get dinner from the sketchy chicken place that we got dinner from the other night. We had it delivered to us this time so we didn’t have to go over there. It was the end of a beautiful day. Manhattan will always be one of my favorite cities to visit.  Tomorrow is a travel day for us so we’ll probably go to bed tonight and pack up the trailer tomorrow. Till tomorrow!!!
