Today was wonderful!!! We had the best day. Tiffany and her kids took myself and my kids ( except Asher, he was getting behind in school so he opted to stay back to do school work) to Mt Vernon !!!!!!
Tiffany drove all of us in her car. She was our tour guide for today. She shared her knowledge of the Virginia/DC area and told us so many great things we wouldn’t have learned other wise. I will forever be grateful for her taking time out of life to play with us ❤️
Mt Vernon was George Washington’s house that he lived in for a long time. We learned all kinds of things about him while walking around. One thing I liked was that he was a brilliant farmer. At one point he grew tobacco. He decided to switch to wheat because wheat wasn’t regulated by the British and it didn’t deplete the soil as bad. He was very religious. He believed in God and went to him often in prayer for help. George had the opportunity to be king but he reminded the people that this is a democracy, so he became the first president.m of the US. His land goes all the way down the hill to the Potomac River. The Potomac is gorgeous.
The kids were so well behaved and the day was magical.
This is where George and Martha Washington’s remains are kept. Also, behind the black door, 25 other relatives are buried there.
These were George’s actual dentures.
The original Five Guys
The 9-11 Memorial at the Pentagon. It was closed so we had to see it from afar. They made a bench for every single person who died here.

What a wonderful trip! I love my Vernon, though I thought the outside was more interesting than the very (to me) ugly interior. Have a great day!
