Thursday October 1, 2020 - Priesthood Restoration Site

Today was super cool. I took the kids to see the Priesthood Restoration site in Susquehanna Pennsylvania. We drove about 40 minutes through the most gorgeous fall colored trees I’ve ever seen. The drive went by so fast because of the colorful distraction!!  We arrived in Susquehanna and easily found the visitors center. The monument statues there are incredible. From the visitors center we followed the trails that took us in two directions. The first direction was towards the “sugar bush” or the maple trees where Joseph Smith hid the plates to keep them safe. We wondered all over those trails enjoying the thought that the plates were hid right under our feet for safety. Then we headed down the second path. This path led to Joseph and Emma’s house, The Hale home and another monument to the restoration of the priesthood.

Our last stop was about 3 minutes away by car. We drove to the site in the Sesquehanna River where Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdary Baptized each other after receiving the Aaronic priesthood. The spot was very beautiful as the fall colored trees lined the river. The kids played in the water and enjoyed our time there.

  1. Nice. When we were there the reconstructed buildings weren't there, only a few signs. The priesthood monument was there, and we could walk down a narrow path to the river to imagine the exact spot where the baptisms took place.
