Tuesday October 6, 2020 Farewell Lake George and Hello Massachusetts

This morning we drove about 4 hours south-east to our campground just south of Boston. We are actually closer to Cape Cod then we are to Boston.  I think we about 45 minutes south of Boston. The drive went by super fast. The freeways were lined with fall colored trees the whole way.  Scotty worked while I drove and the kids worked on school stuff. We arrived at our campground around 3 PM and set up the trailer.  This campground is really well laid out. I've become picky with how the water and electricity hook up. But the most important thing is the poop hose.  The poop hose hook up here is great!  It has a down ward slope so everything drains like a charm.  hahahha. The life on the road.

The kids got right to work finishing up their school work for the day. Then at 4:30 we left to go explore Plymouth Rock and Cape Cod.  Plymouth Rock was the rock that the pilgrims landed on when they came to America. In history, Graham, Pepper and I have been learning all about the 1600's and it was so great to go see what we have been learning.  We also got to see the Mayflower II. This is a replica of the Mayflower.  It looked like a pirate ship to us.  Cape Cod Harbor was stunning.  It so nice to see the ocean again. We are officially on the east coast. We have driven across the country!!  We drove from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.  There were a bunch of monuments to the pilgrims and the Indians close to the harbor.  We walked all over to see everything we could. Well, Scotty and I walked.  The kids jumped, ran, rolled, squirmed and wiggled their way around.  hahahha.  I want their energy.

  1. Congratulations for making it across the country. Isn't Plymouth fun? Were you surprised at how small the "rock" was? We were told various stories about how it has worn away over the years, how the actual landing place was much farther out in the bay, and even that that rock on display is just for display. Nevertheless, what a wonderful place of history. I can't wait for you to get to Boston. If your family likes seafood, go to Union Oyster House. It's the oldest restaurant in the country, just a couple of blocks from the Old State House and Faneuil Hall (also great shops and restaurants in a historic building).

  2. Also in Boston, take the Freedom Trail historical walking tour (with a guide or on your own) and keep an eye out for any number of Italian bakeries.
