Friday July 16, 2021 - Travel Day to Provo, Utah

Bright and early, we got up and drove away;(. It is very sad to leave our beloved friends, but we have more adventure ahead of us:)). The drive to Provo takes about 5 hours with our trailer.  We made two stops before actually getting to our campground so we could see family and friends.

Goodbye Rigby Lake and our favorite Turville family.

Back in Utah!

Our first stop in Utah, was in Layton, Utah!!  I grew up here and wanted to stop to see some of my high school girls!!!
From Left to Right - Amy, Me, Lisa, Jill.  These girls cheered with me at Layton High School!!  They are such wonderful friends.  We spent a couple of hours talking and catching up.  I love them and am grateful for their examples of faith and obedience.  It was so fun to see them.

This was us 5 years ago when I went out to see them:))

Here are two of Jill's kids and my kids with Homie!

The second stop we made was at my brother Matt's house in Vineyard!!  He is my oldest brother and I love him.  I dropped off Asher and Graham with him.  Matt is going to take them boating tonight and then they will sleep over with him.

After Matt's house, we took the trailer to our campground in Provo right by Utah Lake.  Scotty and I hooked up the water and electricity, unhooked the truck, and left.  We didn't even set up the trailer.  We had a meeting set up in Spanish Fork!!!

This is Jamie Graver!! She was my running buddy back in the days that Scotty and I lived here in Spanish Fork.  Jamie and I ran pregnant with our first babies together.  We trained hard and ran marathons together.  She is amazing.  After I moved to CA., she continued having babies.  She now has 10!!!  Look at her!  10 babies!!  She looks amazing! We met up at a park in Spanish Fork and our kids played together while Jamie and I caught up!

Scotty and Jamie knew each other from California.  Jamie is from West Lake, CA.

Scotty was hungry so he ran to Cafe Rio.  On his way, he swung by and grabbed one of our neighbors that we were close to when we lived here. Please meet Trevor!  Trevor came with Scotty to the park and ate Cafe Rio with him.  It's so cool to catch up with all these people that meant so much to us back in the day.

We took Trevor home when we were all done.

Here is the street that we lived on in Spanish Fork.

This is the first house that Scotty and I bought together.  We moved in here when we were like 3 months married.  Asher and Graham were born here.  Memories!!!

Then on our way back to the trailer, we stopped at Gracie's house! Grace is Scotty's sister.  She lives in Provo. It was a short visit but we will be hanging out with them tomorrow!!

When we got back to the trailer, it was about 9 PM.  We had to set up the trailer super fast because. . . . .

These awesome guys paid us a visit.  Colton and Cliffton (the two on the far left and far right)were two of Scotty's young men when Scotty was Young Men's President in our ward in Spanish Fork.  Dustin is the guy in the middle. They love Scotty and he loves them.  He helped them get into college and he encouraged them to serve missions.  They served missions and are both now married in the temple happily, and have children. It melted my heart to hear them talk to Scotty. They truly will never forget the influence he had on their lives. This is what life is all about.  Loving and Serving and building meaningful relationships!!!  They stayed until about midnight then left.  We were so exhausted but our hearts were filled with gratitude and love.   What a day!! So many people to love in this life.

  1. If you see them coming, get in their way,
If you knew them once, they won’t forget you,
If you’re family, friend, or stranger- you won’t be for long,
LaBass family love spreads over time, is never forgotten,
And there is always someone new to bask in their embrace.

  2. You tricky girl, you! Look at all of those pictures you snapped at the park!
So fun to see one of my all-time favorite running palsy-walsies! You are so close to home! I'll shed a tear of joy and sorrow on your behalf. I'm so impressed with your family's spirit of adventure. Way to work it woman! Contact me again the next time you're driving thru. xoxo
