This morning I ran through Central City. The town looks like a movie set. It's an old mining town. There are a ton of closed off mining shafts. We are at about 8,900 ft here. Here are a few pics of the town.

Today we were so blessed to go to Rocky Mountain National Park. Asher stayed home with Scotty to rest and get better. We missed him. We renamed the park The Enchanted Forest. Some of our favorite things that we enjoyed today were snow capped mountains, crystal lakes, elk and moose, and many trails to explore. This park is the 9th National Park in the US. It was founded by a guy named Enos Mills who was inspired by John Muir. We had to drive 1 1/2 hours to get there. The drive was so worth the magical day that we had. So far, every national park has not disappointed. I am so grateful for the programs that keep these parks running.
This was the entrance line that we had to wait in to get into the park. The next picture was the line behind us. It was like a mile long. Rocky Mountain has a reservation system for entrance. If you don't register you can't get in. All this because of Covid. I made our reservations so we were good to go.
We stopped in Hidden Valley for lunch. There is a gentle hike with many places to sit and eat and enjoy the beauty of the park. The air is so clear and clean and we all felt so rejuvenated.
There is plenty of snow on these mountains. We had to stop to throw snow balls at each other. It was fun until snow went all the way down my shirt. So cold.
This is the view that we had most of the time driving Beautiful trees on both sides of the road.
My little Jr Rangers!!!
This road led us to the highest point of the park. 12,000 ish feet. We went up these crazy switch backs to get to the top.

Sarah I love your blog and your trip so much, it is the highlight of my day to vicariously travel around with you. I'm glad Asher is feeling better. Thanks for keeping it real and sharing both ups and downs. (I don't mean elevation, although running at 8900 feet had to be exhausting even for you!) -merleen
ReplyDeleteI love that you're already calling your rig "home". This park looks gorgeous, and I'm glad you had a good day. Hope Asher heals quickly.
