THURSDAY JUNE 11, 2020 - MOAB BMX PARK AND ARCHES ONE MORE TIME

Today was our last day in Moab.  I seriously will shed a tear when we leave.  We have loved this place.  A lot of people come here to do a large variety of things.  This place has something for everyone.  I, myself, have loved the National Parks.  Arches stole my heart.  Canyon lands left me in Awe and the stunning sunsets burned their memories in my soul.  What an adventure this place has been. We all decided that for our last day here we wanted to check out the Moab BMX track.  It was a perfect fit for our family.  The park is marked with shapes to let you know the difficulty of each track.  Taj, Pepper, Graham and Asher all had the perfect combination of fun yet challenging tracks to ride. We also met some really cool people which made it even better.

Thumbs up from Taj!!

If you remember we had a leak. My Scotty fixed it!!!  He's the man!!!  His handy skills have seriously blessed us so many times.
For our last night we did something that I believe will be one of our favorite memories from this trip.  Scotty and Asher couldn't go to Arches with us the first time. We all decided to go back with them to hike and see the Delicate Arch. I mean, if you are going to do anything in Arches, that has to be the thing:)        We started the hike just after 6pm. When we got to the top we decided to stay to watch the sunset.  Best decision ever. As the sun was setting the most breath taking colors surrounded the arch and we all were mesmerized.    Then it started to get dark. Because I am the mother of 2 Eagle Scouts, I made sure Scotty brought flashlights :))))  We hiked down the mountain in the dark.  The experience itself brought so much calmness and unity.    It was one of those moments that Dash from The Incredible's would have said, "I love my family"!!!

It's kind of hard to see what is happening in this picture.  A lady dropped her phone from where she was standing right by the Arch. It slid all the way down the arch to the open flat spot down below.  There were about 100 people sitting around waiting for the sunset.  You could hear all of them grown as they said, "Ohhhhhhhhhh". Immediately Graham jumped up ran over to the lady and told her that he would hike down to get her phone.  We yelled , "Yeah Graham"!  Then others started yelling to Graham as well :)  He went down and brought up her shattered phone. When he handed the phone over to her, the whole crowd broke out in yells and claps for the phone hero!!!  We were so proud of our service oriented boy.

This girl right here had a total win today!!!!  The moment we told her that we were going to hike up to the Delicate Arch, she shut down and was super negative about the whole thing. I talked to her to see what was going on.  She finally let me know that the first time we hiked it, the hike was hard and she didn't think she was strong enough to do it again.  So I started my Pep-talk and some where in there I said something like, "when there are things in life that seem too hard, you just need to remember...." and at that exact moment Graham butted in and started singing, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".  We all died laughing.  The humor and the complete confidence in her helped her get up and down the mountain. She walked away from it mentally stronger, believing in herself. You go girl!!!

I was so proud of this girl!!!

This is the rock that Pepper colored and left in our campsite!!  Or, I mean, she graffiti-ed a huge rock by our campsite :)))

  1. I hope you will frame the picture of your shadows. That is an amazing picture. It pleases me so much to see the kids having these soul filling experiences.
