The Bandelier cliff dwellings are about an hour away from our campground. This morning, we did some school then packed our lunches to go check the cliff dwellings out. Today was cool. The national monument provided a foot trail that we could walk and see all the caves that the Indians made to live in along the mountain. There were also parts that we could climb a ladder and go inside some of the caves. My parents came with us and so that made it more fun!!

Pretty much all the large holes you see along the bottom of the mountain are the caves that the Indians lived in.
We found this carved into the sandstone. T for Taj!!!
Here is the lay out of what used to be a village.
The trail takes you up stairs to reach the caves at one point.
Isn't that cool?? We got to climb in the caves!!!

The black on top of the caves was from the fires they used in the caves.
I love my family!!

We saw a lot of petroglyphs too.
We finished the day with a breath taking sunset and a movie. Life is good. God is good. Night everyone!!!

Lovely photos and descriptions of your last few days. I’m glad the aliens didn’t get you. 😉
ReplyDeleteHow nice that your parents can join you.
