| Here is Peppers rock that she colored and left here at this camp ground. She took her own pictures this time. Don't mind the white powder from her ginormous jaw breaker. |
Happy 2 weeks of traveling to us - yesterday!!!! Time has flown these last 2 weeks. We are happy and having a blast. Graham suggested that we do this for 2 years and not 1. Asher about had a cow. I reminded Asher about my promise that he could do his Senior year back at Royal High School and I intend on keeping that promise as long as he wants to. Once he is gone on his mission after his Senior year, we might think about going out again. We will see. We started our Saturday off like any other Saturday back at home. I went for a run, Scotty and Graham went for a bike ride. The boys found a really cool trail that they liked. It is called The Ribbon Trail here in Grand Junction.
We were all super tired today so we basically rested all morning. It wasn't until 2 pm that we finally got out the door. We drove to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. This park is seriously under rated. If you haven't been here, you need to make the trip. This is the darkest of the canyons. The cliffs are made of black granite. There is a treacherous 2,000 foot slope. There is actually a trail that you can start at the top and hike all the way down to the Gunnison river that flows through it. It takes anywhere from 3-6 hours but you have to get a permit to do it. We saw 3 guys who hiked down and camped by the river for 3 days, then hiked back up. If I would have known you could do this, I seriously think we would have tried to get a permit to hike down and camp. Since we are newbies at all this, we just did the 2 mile hike that anyone can do. We were not disappointed though. I understand why this area is a National Park. It is beautiful and worth the time to make it out there. On our hike, we found a really great area to sit and eat our lunches. When was the last time you at lunch in a canyon like this one???? Another great memory for all of us.

The boys didn’t have enough today so they found another BMX park here in Grand Junction. They flew. Taj made a friend
